Michelle Bravo"If you have other things in your life—family, friends, good productive day work—these can interact with your writing and the sum will be all the richer". |
My name is Michelle Bravo and I am a current Junior at John Jay College of Criminal Justice majoring in Criminology and minoring in Psychology. I am a first generation Ecuadorian-American as well as a first generation college student.
I recently transferred, at the end of the Sophomore year, from a University 400 miles away called Fredonia State University. The change was different, to say the least. I'm an avid traveller and go on vacation at least twice a year; but that didn't prepared me for the culture shock I would face by moving to a different end of the same state. I am grateful to have been admitted to John Jay College of Criminal Justice because it was a chance to start over and it's where my love of learning was born. Initially, I aimed to obtain my bachelor's degree and get a job. I now plan to take my studies as high as graduate school and earn my doctorate degree. I was born at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan and grew up in Queens, NY. I spend most of my time reading, writing, and tutoring high schoolers in English and Biology. The little free time I have is usually spent binge-watching Netflix shows. My ultimate goal in life, as broad as it may seem, is to find passion in whatever I do. I enjoy writing and only hope to expand on my skills as a writer with the Zine. My love for literature goes way back to my childhood where I would stay up all night--flashlight in hand--reading books about adventure, love and fantasy. If I could sit down and share a meal with any of my literary heroes they would have to be: James Patterson (who I've met very briefly and had him sign two series worth of books), John Green, Rick Riordan, Bryan Stevenson and Sherwin B. Nuland. They all wrote books that changed my life and altered my perspective on life at the time I read them. |
