I grew up on the south fork of Long Island, where I spent my years in high school playing basketball and skateboarding. I have always loved the city of New York, so after a dreadful year at a school in upstate New York, I decided to take my talents to the very small apartment in Harlem with my two friends from back home. I am a die hard blue and orange fan, and my passion for New York City culture has never changed.
I have always loved to write, but have never been able to find a good excuse to continue writing. Especially when it comes to things I am passionate about. Being a part of this zine is helping me explore parts of myself that I haven't been able to express. Living as a young man in New York can be very intimidating. I can't begin to tell you how many times I have switched career paths. Focusing on writing at a level like this will push me to possibly pursue a career in journalism. And if it doesn't, I hope it creates an outlet for me to continue writing, even if it doesn't become a part of my path. |
