Erick Garcia |
My name is Erick Garcia. I graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 2014, after which I applied for and was successfully accepted into John Jay's Forensic Psychology graduate program in the Spring of 2016.
Originally I am from Long Beach, California, where I was born, but I was raised on Long Island, New York, where I currently live with my family in Floral Park, located in Nassau County. Ever since I transferred to John Jay as a Junior undergraduate student, I fell in love with this campus and the people in it. While my major as an undergraduate was Criminal Justice and even though now my major in graduate school is Forensic Psychology, that never deterred me from taking anthropology and philosophy based courses which is where I was able to expand my knowledge of the world around me and of the people that inhabit it. Taking these courses allowed me to see the deeper and sometimes hidden meaning in things. I am a huge lover of music, films, and literature. I also love to travel to different states with my family whenever time permits just to break away from the ordinary. But no matter where I go, New York City remains near and dear to my heart. One day I hope to make a difference with the experience I will obtain within my masters program in Forensic Psychology, but at the same time I also want to try my luck with music and to see where that takes me. Even though psychology and music are two things that I am very passionate about, I am also very passionate about writing and finding out more about our world, and I am sure that being a part of this magazine will not only help me to expand my mind about the world we live in, but maybe it will even help me find out more about myself. The journey is just getting started after all! As I said, I love music, literature, and films. While these areas will no doubt be present in my articles at times, I will also allow the world to inspire my writing. My moods and ideas are constantly changing, and my articles will reflect whatever will be on my mind at any given moment in time. However, I can say this: whatever articles I write will look for the deeper meaning of things. My only hope is that whoever should find themselves reading my words will feel a connection to what I say, no matter how big or small. I will do my very best to follow up on my articles based on your thoughts and comments!! I invite you to read my articles, as well as my colleagues' articles, with an open mind. Who knows? Maybe what is familiar to you will become new again, and what is new will be the beginning of something that you never thought existed! |
