Letter from the Editor-in-Chief, A.L.Rougier Happy Ramadan/Ramzan! For this month, articles are dedicated to Ramadan/Ramzan and its importance and the role forgiveness plays within this holy month. For the writers who are Muslim and who follow Islam, they get an opportunity to share what this holy month means to them, individually and as part of a family unit, within their religious communities. For the non-Muslim writers, writing on forgiveness will suffice and act as an acknowledgement of the importance of this sacred celebration—and also act as a form of solidarity to their colleagues and friends. What is forgiveness and what does it mean to forgive—for the person doing the forgiving and the person receiving forgiveness? These are questions that will be tackled in this month’s Special Issue. For my generation of MTV viewers, we cannot forget the infamous scene onThe Hills between Lauren Conrad and her former friend, Jen Bunney. What is the currency of forgiveness—meaning, is there a debt owed to the forgiver and does the forgiven have obligations for being forgiven?
Basically, what does it mean to forgive? What is required of both parties involved for forgiveness to be effective and productive? These are the questions we are tackling this month—this holy month of Ramadan/Ramzan. Sunsets & Sailboats, -A.L.R
